Responsible gaming

Gambling is paid entertainment with an outcome that is known in advance over the long run: the organiser earns, and the player loses overall. This page does not try to talk you out of playing; it helps you keep it within the budget and time you are prepared to spend. betonua.biz.ua is intended only for persons aged 21 and over.

Check yourself with five questions

If the answer to at least two questions is "yes", it is worth taking a break:

  1. Do you play longer or for larger sums than you planned?
  2. Do you try to win your money back straight after a loss?
  3. Have you borrowed money or put off essential payments for the sake of betting?
  4. Do you hide from those close to you how much time and money goes on gambling?
  5. Do you feel irritated when you are unable to play?

Rules worth setting in advance

  • Budget. Decide on a monthly amount you are prepared to lose without harming your everyday life, and do not top up your account beyond it.
  • Time. Set a timer for each session. Long uninterrupted play reduces attention and pushes you towards impulsive bets.
  • Bonuses. The wagering requirement forces you to place bets totalling many times the bonus itself. Plan your budget with this turnover in mind.
  • Live betting. The fast pace at which bets are accepted during a match is the most common reason for exceeding a limit. Decide how many bets per event you will place before it starts.
  • Sobriety and mood. Do not play under the influence of alcohol, when tired or when experiencing strong emotions.

Control tools on gambling platforms

Licensed operators in Ukraine are required to provide players with self-control tools. On the platform this site is about, the responsible gaming section describes spending limits per day, week or month, session time limits, a reminder to take a break after two hours of continuous play, and self-exclusion. Set them up straight after registering, not when gambling has already got out of control.

State self-exclusion register

Apart from account settings, Ukraine has a register of persons whose access to gambling establishments and gambling is restricted. It is kept by the regulator, PlayCity. Being entered in the register applies to all licensed organisers, not just one platform, so it is a more reliable way to stop. The application procedure and restriction periods are published on the regulator's official website.

Where to turn for help

Gambling addiction is a recognised disorder, and specialists work with it. See your family doctor or a psychotherapist, tell those close to you about the problem and ask them to help you control your finances. International mutual-help communities such as Gamblers Anonymous hold meetings, including online. If debts or gambling lead to thoughts of self-harm, call the emergency line 112 immediately.
